Okay. This one’s a big one. Georgia is my best friend from high school. We survived 5 years at an all girls school and still liked each other after. We have traveled the world together, gotten a little too drunk together and been at each other’s side for all the big moments including her return from a year away in Finland (damn right I was there at the airport the second she landed on home soil!) This girl means the world to me.
When her partner of 7 and a bit years, Tom, asked me to do a couples shoot as a birthday present for her, I was more than excited. I had been wanting to photograph these two for the longest time, and Tom FINALLY let me! We decided to do the shoot at their first home together so we could include their furryboys Caesar & Rory.
The the day of this shoot, G and I went shopping for her outfit. We chatted about the shoot and Georgia’s mentioned how if Tom didn’t propose, it would really be a wasted opportunity. I told her to forget about that and focus on getting some photos together because this was their first couple shoot EVER!
Tom did message me later in the day (about 45minutes before the shoot to be exact) to double check some details and to quickly mention he was planning to propose. I remember bursting into a happy tear sob and replying to him “yeah, cool. No worries!” We mastered a plan for him to get the ring while I set Georgia up for some ‘light test’ photos that she was very used to as a photographer’s best friend.
Here’s how it all happened! *cue more happy tears*
